Tina 

Conveying her heavy interest in Harry Potter fandom and her openness with her hobbies that may be perceived as nerdy. This person knows what they want and are looking for a relationship where they have shared interest. Their smiling casual photo shows that they are someone who likes to have fun and someone who is willing to match their specific energy. 

Valente

He is a career focused man that is looking to date with intention. As he says in his bio he is done with short term dating and wants a serious relationship, one that is based on a mutual connection. I think his more serious profile picture of him at work shows that he is a professional and someone who is focused on making sure that his partner is just as invested in their future as he is. 

Tracie 

Her very specific focus on how important her family is to her shows that she is a family focused person, but it also comes across with an intention to the audience that they take the idea of building their family seriously. They are probably religious in some form and are looking to marry someone with traditional values. Their photo shows that they are a happy individual but also that they are not overly focused on their appearance due to their hair in their face.

Kenny

With this photo he is trying to convey that he is a serious individual but also able to joke around. His Bio comes across like he is trying to disarm his potential matches as well as show that he has a soft side, saying that he thinks football is too violent. I think that this person probably wants to communicate that he is approachable in a way he may not be able to upon first meeting them on the street.

Sandra 

She is trying to express that she is a deep individual with a wide range of tastes. Her promoting of her favorite movies shows her interests while also trying to engage with the audience, wondering what would cause someone to have such a wide range of interests. I think the Dog is great for attracting attention and they are probably well aware of that fact, hence their presence in the bio.

John 

He is trying to convey his lack of recent dating experience and has been focused on their academic/ work for the past couple years. This fact is probably being used as a way to get the audience to wonder what they have been working on the past couple years and invite them to ask him about it. His photo shows that he is someone who likes to have fun or who screams randomly . The first option makes more sense

These different profiles intentions all relate back to this weeks reading from (Hancock and Toma) “These self-presentational choices are typically guided by two underlying tensions: (a) self-enhancement, or daters’ desire to appear as attractive as possible in order to be noticed by potential mates; and (b) authenticity, or the need to appear honest in their description of themselves” Many of these profiles are trying to put their best face forward while also making sure that they make themselves as attractive as they can to their specific target audience.
